Save The Glacier is a major project in which Skyway Montebianco has taken measures to protect the environment and the glaciers. Glaciers are the most obvious expression of how much nature is suffering. Courmayeur and Mont Blanc are natural wonders and everyone is responsible for them, with Skyway at the forefront. Together with companies and communities, Skyway has established a consortium at the service of nature. The glacier has undergone intense cleaning work over the years. Those at Skyway want to convey to the people of the future a commitment to reducing CO2 emissions by restoring green spaces, bringing back the mountains to their natural state and reducing the signs of human presence to a minimum, by combining progress and investment with sustainability. This is the message of the 2020 sustainability report. Skyway Monte Bianco reduces the impact of its activities by controlling and minimizing the consumption of energy and natural resources, reducing the production of waste and pollutant emissions and, where possible, favouring the recovery of waste water. The Skyway stations have been designed and built using the best possible technology to increase efficiency and reduce consumption. Their goal is to get as close as possible to the standard of zero-energy buildings. 100% of the consumed energy is produced from renewable sources: partly by the photovoltaic panels installed at the stations while the rest comes from the hydroelectric power plants of the Aosta Valley.
