The mountains are not just about landscape, sport or tourism. It is a place where new development models are tested, resilient communities are built, and the challenges of climate change, sustainability, mobility and depopulation are tackled. A constantly evolving reality that deserves to be told with competence, depth and the ability to interpret. With this objective, the Lagazuoi Journalism Award 2026 was created, promoted by Gis – Italian Skiing Journalists, in collaboration with Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, the Lottomatica Foundation and TH Resorts, as part of the Winning Ideas Mountain Awards, the award dedicated to the best ideas, projects and innovative products for the highlands.
The award is aimed at professional journalists, publicists and practitioners registered with the Order of Journalists, as well as members of the Foreign Press Association in Italy, who have produced articles, reports, television or radio features or online content dedicated to the world of the mountains during 2026. The initiative aims to promote journalism that is capable of portraying the Italian mountains as living and dynamic territories, where innovation, culture, environment, business, sport and quality of life intertwine to build new models of development. The awards will go to reports that offer an original, rigorous perspective capable of informing the general public about the transformations taking place in mountain areas, with a particular focus on territories located above 600 metres above sea level.
The jury will be composed of Stefano Illing, creator of Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, Roberta Serdoz, deputy director of TGR and president of GIS, Jacopo Orsini, editor of Il Messaggero and vice president of GIS, Riccardo Capecchi, president of the Lottomatica Foundation, and Maria Debellini, vice president and CIO of TH Resorts.
The works will be evaluated on the basis of journalistic quality, the originality of the story, the relevance of the topic covered, the usefulness of the information for the public and respect for the ethical principles of the profession.
All content published between 1 January and 30 November 2026 in print, online, on the radio or on television can enter the competition.
Entries must be submitted by 30 November 2026 to giornalistisciatori@gmail.com
Three prizes will be awarded:
