Andrea Macchiavelli, an economist, is a professor of Tourism Economics of the master's degree course at the University of Bergamo and Tourism Policies at the Milano Bicocca University. He mainly deals with mountain tourism, has published numerous essays in Italian and international scientific journals and participated in congress activities in Italy and abroad.
For fifteen years he was director of CeSTIT (Study Center for Tourism and Interpretation of the Territory of the University of Bergamo), Senior Partner of the Clas-PTS Group in Milan and is an active member of AIEST (International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism).
He was born in Rome, attended the Torquato Tasso classical high school and graduated in political science at the La Sapienza University in Rome. Journalist since 1992, he worked for the major headlines of the RCS group - Corriere della Sera, Gazzetta dello Sport Digital Edition, L'Europeo, Il Mondo, Io Donna, A - Anna. In the travel sector, he was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Gulliver, deputy director of I Viaggi del Sole, project manager of the travel website Viaggi24 - Il Sole 24 Ore.
Since 2015, he has been editor-in-chief of the DOVE multimedia system (monthly magazine, guides, dossiers, special reports, live experience), and since 2019 also responsible for the website Viaggi.corriere.it, the travel channel of corriere.it.
Born in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where he currently lives, he is an engineer by profession. For several years he was engaged in municipal development and Institutional Building in various developing countries for NGOs, the World Bank, FAO and other organisations. He went on to become involved in the development of tourism in the mountains; he is a consultant at international level for the planning and development of ski resorts. He designed, planned and co-ordinated the creation of the Lagazuoi, Sasso di Stria and 5 Torri Great War Open-air Museum.
The designer of the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, conceived as a means of valorising and promoting the values and culture of the mountains, currently is the president of the Cortina Delicious Consortium, councillor and CEO of various ski lift societies and consortiums in the Dolomites.
