Wima2023 - Mountain gastronomy industry

For the "Mountain gastronomy industry" category, we investigated farm and livestock industry located in mountain municipalities at more than 600 m.a.s.l.: emphasis on innovative methods of production and / or the processing of raw materials, but also on new approaches to the marketing and commercialization of resources.

The selection

Each category was entrusted to a high-level expert who put together a list of the most interesting Italian and international projects.

The candidates in the 'Mountain gastronomy industry ' category were nominated by:

Alberto Lupini – the editor-in-chief of ‘Italia a Tavola’ and of ‘Check-In’

The evaluation

Three juries were selected to determine the winners of each category.

The entrants for the category 'Mountain gastronomy industry' were evaluated by

  • Emanuele Boselli – an Associate Professor at the Free University of Bolzano, the director of the three-year degree course of Enogastronomy in Mountain Areas
  • Luigi Cremona – a certified sommelier of the Italian Sommelier Association A.I.S., a master cheese taster (O.N.A.F.) and has a column in the official ONAF magazine InForma dedicated to the dairy culture.
  • Stefano Illing – the designer of the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, involved in mountain tourism development

The awarding

The exhibition of the winning projects was inaugurated on Saturday 1st April 2023 at  Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti and will be on display until March 2024 during the cable car operational dates.
